Sharon and Trevor really wanted to visit the city of Bordeaux and I must say it was not on my list to see as I'm not a big city kind of girl, Ron and I enjoyed it much more than we thought we would. Bordeaux is a port city on the Garonne River in the Gironde department in southwestern France. It is the capital of the Aquitaine region, "The Pearl of Aquitaine". Bordeaux is the world's major wine industry capital. With Ron's great driving capability we found parking and used the public tram service and in no time we arrived into the epicentre of Bordeaux. At first sight, the 18th-century grandeur of Bordeaux is almost overwhelming being very spread out so we headed straight into the old Historical Centre. The Centre is filled with beautiful 18th century buildings when the city was at its height of prosperity. Really Bordeaux is like a mini Paris. The architecture is very similar, there is a river running through part of the town, it's so beautiful. There were so many cafes, and people sitting outside crowd watching as they ate and so many boutique shops that lined the streets. I definitely could come back here again and spend more time here!
