We changed bases from the Luberon Region and stayed in St. Remy for our last 3 days before heading to the Dordogne Region of western France. Sharon and Trevor rented a cute Condo for 3 nights and we rented this guest house on a private estate 5 minutes outside the town. This first photo below was a renovated Pigeon coupe turned into a guest house. I would have rather rented now looking back a condo like Sharon and Trevor but it was cute and spacious with good wi-fi and a hot shower. We didn't spend any time here except for sleeping as our days were spent sightseeing. I didn't get any photos of St. Remy itself as there were so many people in the town with a carnival set up right in the village which was a eye sore so we really did not spend much time in the town itself.
We visited two main sites one day, one being the Glanum Archeological Ruins and the other where Van Gogh was treated in the St. Paul Monastery and Hospital where it still a functioning mental institute. As we walked along the narrow path, they're were some of Van Gogh's works of Art which were replicas of course, and some of where he painted right there on the property. Here we entered Vincent's temporarily peaceful world, a small chapel, intimate cloisters, and upstairs a re-creation of his room and a small delightful lavender field outside his window from his room. In his room you could read in English all the information explained about his family, and his tortured life. It was a well worth visit for sure if your a Van Gogh fan like me!
