Waterton National Park

A few weeks ago my Girlfriend Karey and I made our once a year trek out to Waterton National park, and this time we weren't going to miss out on our opportunity to photograph the spectacular wildflowers, Mid June is prime time to photograph these Beauties and we were not disappointed! Here are some of my favorite photos!!!  which are so many!

Tucked away in the southwest corner of Alberta, Waterton lies only 2.5 hours south of Calgary.  It's the smallest of our Rocky Mountain parks and if you hit the trails you're likely to see more wildlife than people.  Your never disappointed if you come to view wildlife in this park as we are always coming across bears or deer.

Below is the striking red and green hues of intriguing rock formations of the riverbed make Red Rock Canyon a Photographers Dream, I just love getting into these meadows and photographing the Wild flowers.  If you come mid August of late August  and from my experience in the past you most likely won't get to photograph these flowers as most of them are dying off or dead so Timing has to be just right.

Below these flower's are called Bear Grass but really belong to the lily family.  They grow usually about 4.5 feet tall with many small flowers. Bear grass is found in open forests and meadows at sub alpine and low alpine elevations and we found lots of them as we drove up higher elevation.
